Spring is coming soon. The winter months are almost behind us and with the change of the weather our daily beauty routine should also change. The winter cold will leave and with it will leave the imminent threat of dry skin, inflammation and rashes caused by the dry air. The humidity in the air will rise significantly and so will the power of the sun.

All of this means we will need some new facial masks to reflect accurately the new needs of our skin. Here are two suggestions for all-natural spring facial masks.

The brightening mask

In the spring vitamins will be essential for your skin. The sun will provide you with vitamin D but the rest is up to you. In the spring time your skin is most likely to be taken by acne thanks to your sweat. If you have an oily skin the threat of acne is even bigger. A fresh smoothie for your skin is the answer to your problems. Just bear with me. Take a 1/4 cup of mashed strawberries and add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Mix it with a tablespoon of yogurt and the same amount of honey. Mash all the ingredients together, and be careful not to eat the mask before you use it. It won\t cause you any harm, but that’s not the point of the mix. So don’t eat it.

A very important note for this mask is, that it should not be a blended. It shouldn’t be in liquid, but a creamy one. Apply it on your face and let it sit for up to 10 minutes. Do not leave it longer, because the lemon juice may cause harm. Wipe it off with a warm cloth and than tines your face with lukewarm water.

Strawberries contain salicylic acid, which is great against acne. The lemon juice will help your skin tighten and close the pores. The combination will remove old dead skin cells. The yogurt and honey are not to be forgotten. Without them you risk getting inflammation on the face, which is never good. Those products contain antibiotic properties.

The best part of this mask is that you can eat all the extra mix, left in the bowl. Enjoy!

Your morning habits are not influenced by the seasons. We all have our morning routine and most of us start the day with a cup of coffee. This is a good start as caffeine helps us to wake up and to start our day a little happier than we would otherwise. You should cherish this marvelous drink for more than this reason though.

Caffeine helps you reduce swelling and puffiness if applied on your skin. There is no wonder that caffeine will be the base of a marvelous facial mask. Just take 2 tablespoons of freshly ground coffee and mix it with equal amount of pure cocoa powder. Add 1 tablespoon of honey and 3 tablespoons of yogurt. Blend the ingredients and apply the cream on your skin. Leave it to work its magic for about 10 minutes and then rinse it off with some cool water. While you are taking off the mask, massage your face gently, so that the cream can exfoliate your face as well.

The recipe is quite easy. First and foremost you will need eggs. Now, usually one egg is enough for this mask, but if you have especially long or thick hair (kudos on that), you should use 2. If you have oily hair use only the egg whites for this recipe, and use only the yokes for dry hair. If you have normal hair – use the whole egg. Put whichever part of the egg you use in a bowl and beat it. Add some olive oil and milk while mixing. Put some fresh lemon juice in the compound and continue mixing it. Congrats, your hair mask is ready. Time to apply it.

Take some of the mixture on your fingertips and start massaging your scalp with it. Gently stroke your hair with your hands form the roots to the hair ends and let it work its magic for about 15 minutes. Take in consideration that the mask is very drippy and it most probably will drop from your hair.

After 15 minutes clean your hair with lukewarm water. Make sure you have cleaned all the mixture off your hair. In the end take a shower using an organic shampoo for final cleansing.

Feel like a goddess with your own homemade shaving cream

Shaving cream is the most important part of clearing the hairs from your body. On it depends if your skin will be smooth or irritated, if it will be silky and well shaved or itchy and scratchy.

Most people buy their shaving cream or foam without caring if there are artificial ingredients or preservatives used in the making of the product. Usually they are the ones that give your skin a radiant look after you finish with the razor. But they have hidden dangers inside them. The artificial ingredients and preservatives may cause inflammation, redness or rashes, which are never good news especially if they appear while you are preparing for a date. That’s why the best solution for you is to use a home made shaving cream. You can even surprise your husband or boyfriend with this fantastic homemade cream that will leave their face refreshed and silky after shaving.

The recipe is fairly easy. You will need 1/3 cup of coconut oil, and the same amount of Shea Butter. Melt these two ingredients over low heat. Stir occasionally until the coconut oil and shea butter are completely melted.

After you took the pot away from the hot plate add 2 tablespoons of Almond oil. It has a lot of benefits to your skin, but most importantly it has moisturizing properties. You are free to substitute the almond oil with apricot, argan, grape seed olive or rose hip oil, but in my opinion almond oil is the best one.

Put the ready mixture in a bowl and leave it in the fridge for an hour to cool off. After 60 minutes the oils must have hardened so it’s time to add 2 tablespoons of unscented Castile soap and any essential oils you might like. The essential oils are optional of course. You should know though that they are not just adding fragrance to your shaving cream but also additional benefits for your skin. For example Lemon, Orange, Peppermint, Rosemary, Tea Tree and Chamomile are great for oily Skin.

On the other hand Geranium, Jasmine and Lavender are for more sensitive skins, as Carrot seed, Rose, Rosewood and Clary Sage are best to be used on dry skin.

After you’ve put all the ingredients together take an electric mixer and whip the mixture for several minutes. This should take around 5 minutes but you will know the cream is ready when the mixture becomes light and fluffy.

Keep your homemade shaving cream in a glass, air and water tight container. You should know that coconut oil rots easy, so be sure to keep the mixture as dry as you can. When you use the cream be sure to take the mixture with dry hands. Don’t forget to keep the container closed when you are not using the cream so you can prolong its life and keep the benefits of its ingredients.

And finally, when you let your husband or boyfriend uses your shaving cream be sure they follow the same instructions for using it and inspect the mixture after them. Come on, we all know they won’t follow your instructions.
